Why Can't We Be Friends?

Only six weeks until my birthday! I will be the big 2-8. What what. [That was in my gangsta voice.] For my birthday, I have asked two things of H. First, I would like my present to be an iPod Shuffle. Second, H will go with me to see the movie coming out that week starring my boyfriend (John Krasinski) and Mandy Moore. I told H the Shuffle and the movie are the only things I want, but he said that it is not enough and he must get me more presents. So I told him he could download some songs onto the iPod. Still not enough for him. It is my birthday [in six weeks] and that's all I want, so that is all I should get! Don't I get to choose how much I get for my birthday? Apparently, if history is any indication, the answer is no. H and I always set budgets for birthday and Christmas presents. Then H always goes at least $100 over the limit. Then I get mad. Then H gets mad at me for getting mad at him when he was trying to do something nice. Then I get mad at H for getting mad at me for getting mad at him and for thinking that busting our budget is nice. It is a bad cycle. Maybe this is the birthday we can break the cycle! I have high hopes.

Speaking of my boyfriend, I only saw the last ten minutes of the season finale of The Office! I didn't worry about it at the time because we taped it, but it turned out that our connection was defective and we taped an hour worth of black screen! Noooo!

oh my wanna come watch it on my tivo? it was a good one!

Also, I tell Andrew to just get me nothing or something small, and he ALWAYS gets way more. But I swear I really mean it when I tell him to get me nothing. I guess the rest of the female species has ruined it for us and the boys simply don't believe us!

Yeah, me and presents are an awkward combination. My ex got me one birthday present in the six-plus years we dated, and I dread the idea of someone actually getting me a present. Is that weird???

Also, the finale of The Office? AWESOME.

Presents are always a touchy subject! I'm terrible at presents for Jase and he's terrible at presents for me so... we're even at least! :)

I think husbands and birthdays must all be alike...They want to do what THEY would like. I'm going through a sorta similar thing...Maybe a post is in order about it, we'll see...

First of all--you must see The Office! I'm glad you saw the end of it though, but really the episode was awesome.

Second--I thought I was older than you. I wonder where I got that idea from?

We will probably be getting our birthday presents around the same time this year. I was late with Geek's gift, so he said he would get me an anniversary gift instead. Ha!

Good luck with the birthday-budget thing.

Oops! This should say that I will be the big 2-8, not 29!

I thought you were only 27, not 28. You're forgetting how old you are already?? That's a sure sign that you're getting old. ;-)

I think if H really wants to spend more money, you should ask for a Nano rather than a Shuffle. Isn't a Shuffle the one that doesn't even have a display where you can pick just what you want to listen to?? Sounds like a pain to me; go with a "real" iPod instead.

As for the Office, you must see it, and I'm pretty sure you can probably find it on YouTube.

Are you so old that you don't know how old you are?? Ouch!

I watched a vintage Law & Order: Criminal Intent last night featuring our MUTUAL boyfriend John Krasinski as a high school basketball star in Harlem. A truly riveting performance.

People, I cannot find The Office on YouTube! I searched this weekend but could not find it! Nooo! And the NBC website only has the "2-minute replay," which does not satisfy my Office needs.

Maybe typing "2-9" was a typo? Because I would never forget how old I am, right? Ok, I totally forgot how old I was. I am dumb.

I think I made my feelings about birthdays very clear in my post today :) ... although I do hear you on the budget thing. That makes it harder. However, I still believe that birthdays are fun and need to be celebrated with lots of cake and presents. And cake. Lots of cake. Mmmm.

I, too, am in love with Jon Krasinski, but also with the guy who plays Creed, a little bit. Not that I think he's hot (because: ew), but because he is HILARIOUS.

Don't judge me!

I still don't think it's the whole episode, but there's at least more than one clip here:

How sweet of H. I, personally, am not a big fan of "going all out" with the presents, but that's probably because no one ever has for me. I hope you at least get the two items you asked for ... and hopefully a few extra surprises! Happy almost birthday, Gangsta.
