Maybe Later I Can Upgrade to the Sparkly Seat

I got my birthday present early this year. I think I received the same gift for my 5th birthday. Well, the one I got for my 5th birthday was yellow and had a banana seat covered in silver sparkles, while this one is mostly white with some seafoam green details and a regular seat. Yes, I got a bike!

I know I said I wanted an iPod shuffle, but H and I have been wanting to get bikes for two years now, so we decided this was the time.

I went for my first ride after work today. And I didn't fall off even once! Wooo! And, even better, I didn't run into anything! Two older ladies and a 12 year old boy did pass me, but that's ok! Also, I thought I was going to die when I was riding my bike into the wind, but I survived! And then I turned and realized that I hadn't really been riding into the wind; NOW I was riding into the wind! And I survived that too! And then I thought I might have to give up and walk my bike when I was going up a big hill, but I didn't! I made it!

Fun! I just told P (again) that I want a bike and he told me I didn't really need it here because we live in a small town. Hello, exercise? Sheesh. I mean, not that I'd really exercise--more like joyride! Wheeeeeee!!!! Ride for me, OK?

Good on you! When we got bikes, I fell off mine and looked like a total goob. It was just not so graceful. We have not ridden them since, but we should. Actually, to be honest, I rode mine once more with a friend who brought her bike over (actually I think the cow RODE it 10km over), and I hyperventilated so much by the end my husband nearly called an ambulance. Oh I so need to get fit and ride my bike...

Yay for a bike! We haven't ridden in years, but once my son gets bigger, I see some family bike rides in our future. Wear a helmet! :)

I got a new bike recently, but the bike needs some TLC before I ride it on the real streets. Either that, or I forgot how to ride a bike.

Oooh, fun! If you get the sparkly seat, you also have to get streamers for the handlebars and those things for the spokes that make noise. Oh, and don't forget the basket for the front! Mine had big plastic flowers on it - I know you're jealous.

MY banana seat bike was purple, and also had the basket with big flowers. I loved it.

My sedate blue "grown-up" bike has been languishing in the garage for so long the tires are rotten. I wonder if I'd have been more motivated to keep it running if it was purple and sparkly?

Congrats to you, though! Riding into the wind AND up a hill? You go!

Yes!! I got a bike for Christmas and helped AS buy one for his birthday and it's been great fun so far.

Maybe we can get matching streamers?

Yeah! Go you!

We have bikes and use them all the time. Hadleigh rides hers, and Tom rides in a trailer that's attached to the back of Aaron's bike.

Yesterday we rode eight miles, and I swear, it was actually fun!

(until one of the tires on the trailer got a puncture)

There are few things in life about which I could be considered a diva, but bike riding is one of them. I refuse to ride if it's too windy, and I am decidedly averse to hills. So good for you! I am impressed. :-)

We have bikes and have so much fun on them when it isn't a bazillion degrees.

You should get a bell and a basket! Whee!

Happy Early Birthday!

And yay on the bikes. Tony and I have been talking about getting a couple for some time now, but keep putting it off.
