Clothes, Clothes, Clothes

Today's post was supposed to be a fashion show. I was going to go to Nordstrom's semi-annual sale and get some nice work pants and possibly a dress. I told H my plan, and (this is truly shocking) he wanted to go with me. But he had to work today, so he asked me to wait until tomorrow when we could go together. You might think he wants to tag along to prevent me from spending too much, but that is not the case as I will be using my personal account to pay for the clothes, and I have been plenty saved up. Anyway, I was going to go without him, but I decided to go to Kohl's instead to see if I could find any jeans or cute staples. I only ended up finding two camisoles and a bright short-sleeved shirt that will look nice under a blazer. Oh well. I spent less than $25.

I also thought about writing about my weight. I don't feel fit. I don't feel healthy. And I don't feel attractive. But that is pretty boring and a little too personal. Plus, it's my own damn fault that I weigh this much, so I should just do something about it instead of complaining.

Or I thought about telling you that the new season of Project Runway starts on Wednesday. I am so excited!

But instead I will ask you if you have purchased or seen any cute new clothes recently? Or if are you short and not that skinny, what is your favorite brand of jeans? (Yes, I know about Zafu, but does it really work?)

I would love to tell you about all my cute new clothes, but alas, I am broke at the moment. So instead I will tell you about how I have not had a raise in two years... and about how many cute new clothes my BOSS has shown up to work in lately.

Um, yeah. Bitter much? Uh... moving on... Hope the shopping goes well tomorrow!

Well I think you know that I'm short, and I love Old Navy or Gap jeans. I also have some Abercrombie and Anne Taylor Loft jeans that I got for $4.99 at the thrift store and they are gorgeous jeans, the both of them!!

I shop at the thrift store A LOT! In fact, I am pretty much dressed head to toe in Goodwill tonight for this party! WHOOOOHOOO!

I just bought the cutest pair of boots! I've worn them once! I'm sure they'll look just as good next fall when I can wear boots again. Alas.

I also bought a cute red sweater that I love (see pictured in my header.) It was only $15 after a number of sales and coupons at Macy's. Thankfully, it matches my cast. That almost makes up for the boot thing.

I have heard awesome things about Joe's Jeans Provacateur--their petite cut. I am a big fan of the Joe's Honey cut--actually accommodates a booty. Joe's are on the expensive side, but worth every penny.

Stef, I have been saving up for two months for a little shopping spree. I would be bitter too!

Marmite, I can't buy pants from Old Navy. They are super gappy in the waist, but then so tight in the thighs that the seams nearly bust open. Not good.

Noelle, that sucks about the boots, but I do like the sweater in your header.

L Sass, Zafu recommended Joe's Jeans Honey cut for me, so I will try both those and the Provacateur cut. I have never owned jeans that cost more than about $50 though, so I am a bit hesitant.

I am 5'3" and my weight wavers between 140 and 150. I have a tiny waist and big hips - I'm an hourglass shape - little in the middle and got much back, you know. This makes it impossible to buy jeans that don't gap in the back. Last fall I made a friend go with me to help buy jeans. I bought four pair - two Tommy Hilfiger, one Calvin Klein and one Bandolino. They all fit great, I get compliments, and I paid about $40 per pair. Give them a try.

I get my jeans from Lands End. They hem them to fit, and that works well with my 26 inch inseam. That's the only kind I've bought for a few years.

I kust bought a perfect LBD at AT Loft. It is not on their website (weird) otherwise I'd link it. But I really, really love it.

It's satin, cap sleeves, to the knee, and has black jewels around the neck.

I am so with you on the Old Navy jeans - I have not bought a pair of pants there that worked in seven years at least. They are super tight in the thighs, but so gappy in the back that I could fit a small child back there. And too short.

I'm unreasonably bitter about this.

I saw some cute things at ATL today, but nothing was on sale.

I am short and not that skinny. I have a huge problem with finding jeans, but I found a good pair at Express last year. The "curvy" fit looks fitted and I didn't have to get them hemmed for the first time in my life.

Yes, Zafu works.

I have found that Gap jean fit--but not their regular style jeans, only the fashion jeans that they have from time to time. I got a great pair of trouser jeans there recently. Also, the Long and Lean have great legs and do fit at the waist/hip for me, but the pockets seemed a bit high--check them out, they also have them in petite online, but the short style is great for me (they can go in the dryer!!) and we're about the same height.

Ann Taylor has great jeans. I bought a pair last year and thought they were too high on the waist, but this year I love them. I think I'm getting older.

I have tried all the expensive brands and all of the styles. I have not found a single pair that have both thighs and waist. If I'm going to spend that amount of money I expect a great fit. I haven't found it yet.

Levi's Super Low Boot and Express W10 (Stella?) are my "I need a pair of jeans NOW purchases" because I can find them on the cheap and they have a decent fit for the price.

I'm 5'2 and am not what you'd call skinny. I found that the Gap's ankle length (I'm currently a size 12) fits great as long as I wear something with a slight heel. I've also found that Gloria Vanderbilt's jeans in the short length seem to fit me well too, regardless of heel-height.
