So I have been trying to think of six weird things about myself to write since I was tagged by Stories 2 Tell a while ago. I can't seem to think of six weird things about myself, although if you asked my sister, she would probably not be able to stop at six. So here is my attempt at six:
1. I talk to myself a lot. In the car or when I am alone. Not while wandering down the street or in the elevator or anything like that.
2. I also talk to inanimate objects. I was at the printer at work the other day, and I thought no one was around. I realized I had printed the wrong thing, so I looked at the paper and asked, "Why did I print you?" Of course, a partner who I rarely see was walking by and gave me a weird look. Which reminds me that I saw a different partner today and we had the following conversation:
Me: Hi! How are you?
Him: Fine. How are you?
Me: Good. How are you?
Him: Fine.
Me: [in my head] D'oh!
3. I am somewhat lactose intolerant, but I eat lots of cheese anyway. Then I get sick. Yet I still cannot resist cheese. Maybe that is not so much weird as it is dumb.
4. I freaking hate the winter, but I moved to Minnesota willingly. It hasn't been too bad yet in the 2.5 years I have lived here.
5. When people praise me, I cry. It's not like if my boss says, "Good job," I will start weeping or anything. I only get teary if someone gives me a lot of praise. Like when my favorite professor in law school came to the graduation party my friends and I had, and he told my mom what a great student and trial team member I was and went on and on. Then I got really teary and almost cried. Or when H gave a speech about me at my swearing-in ceremony (when I became a member of the bar), I got really teary.
6. I break out into song quite frequently. When I come home at night, I will often sing, "Hello, my honey. Hello, my baby. Hello, my Nerdle pal!" [instead of ragtime gal].

Oh, that was adorable. The convo with the partner had me laughing out loud (though not quite talking out loud) at my desk at work.
The cheese thing: I can relate. You know, I read once that cheese has opiates in it, much like chocolate. Hence, the way it makes you feel soooo good. (Er, briefly.) I love the stuff. Must! Eat! It! Every! Day!
So the talking out loud thing? Is it like, "Don't forget to pick up milk at grocery" or "Why do I always do this? D'oh!" or what? Because I talk to myself a lot too. I am usually saying, "You lazy dawg, get off the computer and CLEAN!"
I also cry at praise. Are you related to me?
I also talk to myself and to inanimate objects. Often. I blame it on living alone, but clearly even married people are not immune.
And #6 was hilarious. Too cute.
I think I've had that same "doh!" conversation. It's just such a Pavlovian response.
With you on the cheese love.
And is there something weird about bursting into song? 'Cause I do that, too. But, since I'm the only actual human in my house, I'm usually singing to cats or dogs. Okay, maybe THAT is a little weird.
I also talk to inanimate objects.
Breaking into song - Awesome. We all do that at my house. We change the words to put our son's name in songs, etc. He has started doing it, too. He had a stuffed rabbit in his hands and started singing "Bunny bells, bunny bells, bunny all the way."
1. Do you lose arguments to yourself?
2. BTDT. Too many times. It just slips out before I can stop it.
3. Cheese is life. Embrace it.
4. I grew up here, left when I was 21, and came back at 35. I should have my head examined. Winters here suck ass.
5. Ok... you're on your own on that one.
6. Do you sing in the shower too? I love the acoustics in our shower.
Oh my gosh, I totally talk to inanimate objects, too. Luckily, Wilman is the only one who has caught me doing this. So far. Although my mom tells me when I was little, I once walked into a wall (see? even klutzy back then!) and asked it to move.
Malia, the opiates explain a lot! I am still embarrassed about the conversation with the partner. He gave me a look like, "Hello? What is wrong with you?" Or perhaps I am just sensitive.
Nat, The talking to myself thing is usually, "What are you doing?" or "Get to work!" If I were related to you, we could hang out and get drunk together for the holidays!
Stefanie, I hate to break it to you, but if you talk to yourself now, you will probably talk to yourself when you are married too.
Liz, I sing to myself, so I don't think it's weird to sing to your pets.
3cars, I cannot tell you how relieved I am that I am not the only one who talks to inanimate objects.
DJ, no, I don't think I have ever fought with myself. And yes, I do sing in the shower. Not because of the acoustics, but because it is more socially acceptable than belting out songs on the bus on my way to work.
GG, cute! That's funny that your mom still remembers that.
As long as you don't answer yourself, you're ok!
I also talk to inanimate objects, especially when having a hard time with them. Cheese is our friend and winter isn't!
Thanks for doing this, you're not weird at all.
We are definitely related. I do the same things... although, I'm not lactose intolerant. I do, however, adore cheese!
Ha! I have the same problem with cheese...I love it so! It, however, does not reciprocate my love.
I talk to myself, inanimate objects, dogs, cats, FISH, and in general anything standing near me. Except strangers, I hate talking to strangers. Small talk sucks. And my husband and I both burst into song pretty regularly! But only in private, 'cause neither of us can carry a tune to save our lives.
