Tomorrow I am going on a blate (blog date) with Stefanie. We are going to eat some sushi off little tiny boats, and it shall be fantastic. Then on Friday night, I am going to a political dinner thing, so I am hoping that will be interesting. I don't know anyone else who is going, but I have decided to be brave and go on my own and enjoy myself. Anyway, the point of this is that I will be busy in the next few days, so I will take the opportunity now to post the next monthly installment of the quadrant game inspired by (stolen from) Hollow Squirrel. So here's how this works. I give you two choices, and you have to pick one. Then I will display the results in a beautiful quadrant, and if you have the same answers I do, you get to be my friend. You may also win a cool prize, if I can think of a cool prize to give away.
Please pick one choice from each of the following:
1. Britney Spears (in 2001) v. Christina Aguilera (in 2001)
2. Pretty in Pink v. Sixteen Candles
Happy choosing!

Britney! (I may or may not have attended a costume party dressed up as her that very same year. The pictures of me in my superclassy getup should really get their own post, entitled "Why I Can Never Run for Public Office.")
Sixteen Candles! (Oh, how I love the end: "Me?!" "Yeah, you!" Let's not talk about the fact that I totally thought that the role of Jake Ryan was played by a young Matt Dillon until...oh, about a year ago.)
I'm going with 2001 Brit and Sixteen Candles, but the second one was a tough choice. I would put Breakfast Club at the top though.
(1) Definitely Britney! I remember when Christina came out with that stupid Jeanie in a Bottle song. My best friend Lori played it OVER and OVER! I hated it!! For that reason, I will forever despise Christina. Unfair? I think not.
(2)sixteen candles. I don't think anyone recognized my 16th birthday :( waa waa.
While I was never much of a fan of either, I am more familiar with both of them than I was with the boy bands...I choose Britney. Christina was always a little too sleazy for my taste.
Sixteen candles, no doubt. Anthony Michael Hall and Long Duck Dong are enough reasons to choose that. That movie is still funny.
Britney, of course.
And Sixteen Candles. Also, of course. Asian stereotypes and all. "My new style American girlfriend" is still said perhaps too frequently in my little corner of the world. Mostly by me, usually speaking of my boyfriend.
I could write a tome about my love for Britney c. 2001. O, how I mourn that she is no longer with us.
Christina is a ho. That's all I have to say about that.
And "Pretty in Pink", although they're both awesome. I was just listening to "If You Leave" this morning on the way to work.
Sushi blate--yay! (I should probably send you an email to arrange a meeting time for said blate, huh? I'll get right on that.)
I have to go with Britney and, though it's apparently the unpopular choice, Pretty in Pink.
Britney. She was kinda cute before she went loco.
16-Cand. Lake, big lake.
We got to meet Carole C00k ("look Fred, she's g0tten her b00bies!") a few years back and she told us a certain teenaged red-head was a little bi-atch during filming.
I usually like to be different just for the heck of it, but this is a clear cut case of Britney and Sixteen Candles.
Unquestionably, Brit & 16 Candles. I love me some Pretty in Pink, but dude, you can't top Jake Ryan.
Brittany and 16 Candles. Although the soundtrack is better for Pretty.
I'm going to buck the trend and say Christina, since answering "hate them both" will cause problems with the quadrant. And because, skanky as she was in 2001, she at least could sing.
Sixteen Candles, of COURSE! If I ever have a traditional wedding, and they are throwing rice or birdseed at me after, I am totally going to jump up and try to catch it in my mouth like the stoned cramping sister! She may actually be my favorite character. "I've had men who loved me before, but never for six. months. in. a row."
OK, in 2001--I'm going with Christina. Britney was at her best ~2000 (the "Hit Me Baby One More Time" era). I think "Oops I Did It Again" was backsliding, although she did pick it up again for a moment with "Overprotected" in 2002. So, yeah. Aguilera all the way.
And DEFINITELY Sixteen Candles.
Brit and 16 Candles. Who hasn't had their underware shown to a bunch of immature boys in a mens bathroom? Ha! Just kidding.
I'm going to have to go with Britny and Sixteen Candles.
My sister got married on my 15th birthday and my other sister forgot. No hottie in a red ferrari picked me up, though. Mmmm...Jake Ryan.
I mean BritnEy. Damn typos.
I'm jumping on the bandwagon.
I have gone as Britney Spears for Halloween 3 times since 2001 and I still have a strange undying love for her.
Also, Sixteen Candles is the movie that stays in my VCR and I don't think I've ever even seen Pretty in Pink.
AND...I bought two pair of shoes yesterday, thanks to your cheap website!
first you and then Paisley...I've finally decided to post a prom picture.
as for the challenge...
I'd have to say Britney and Sixteen Candles...but it's a good thing you said 2001 because if you said 2007 I would've had to say Christina ;)
I'm going to say Christina... because I'm a vocalist, and Christina has always been a good singer, regardless of her songs. In fact, if you listen to the Mulan soundtrack from 1998 (I have girls who were little then... gimme a break!), her "Reflection" is amazing. Britney has always been about the naughty school girl image and poor quality singing. Sorry.
Sixteen Candles, but only by a few lengths.
Nice LANGUAGE, babe!
Britney, before she stopped wearing her knickers, and 16 Candles!
i didn't realize i'd be in the majority with this one when i stopped to read the comments.
Britney and 16 Candles! I (very secretly) loved Britney when she first came out. Of course we didn't know what a freakazoid she would soon turn into. Oh, that catholic school girl video...
And i heart Jake Ryan. I wonder where he went.
I'm going to say Britney because she was dating JT and I rather like him.
I have to say Pretty In Pink. I too was an artsy misunderstood teenangster. The soundtrack takes me back....
Britney all the way! Slave 4 U was her best look. I'm not ashamed to admit that she was pretty hot back then...you know, when she had hair?
I agree with Janet that Breakfast Club is definitely tops, and (please don't judge me) I've only see Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles each once I think...but I would have to go with Pretty in Pink. I really loved Andrew McCarthy (?)...I think it was because of Mannequin!
Britney and 16 Candles.

Hey thief.
Brit and Sixteen Candles.
How'd ya like the sushi in little boats? I've been there a couple of times...I think I preferred the other sushi place downtown on 3rd (maybe? I can't remember), but they don't have tiny boats, just lots of 'tude.
I enlarged the picture... you all look so sweet, innocent, and young there. Did I mention young?
Britney for sure
AND
Sixteen Candles
Yep. Heck, I'd still choose Brit now over Christina Aguilera. I can't bear to look at her.. the orangeness hurts my retinas.
Christina and Sixteen Candles.
This is the first one I didn't even need to think about.
I just went back and read all the other comments. I'm shocked that so few chose Christina. Sure, she got pretty raunchy for a while, but she's always been the better artist. Even as she slutted herself up, I respected that she was just doing her own thing and not trying to present some phony image.
Sixteen Candles doesn't surprise me.
"Ted, that's a Rolls Royce."
"Ted, that's the PROM QUEEN!"
Sixteen Candles is, and will always be my favorite movie. Ever.
And Brit Brit.
I'm gonna go with Britney circa 2001 and Sixteen candles also.
I still cannot stand to watch Pretty in Pink.
